I recently wrote this to a Facebook fan of the show and thought it was worth showing anyone who would read it.
Subject: Read your blog, What about Alex?
Between You and John
Personally I hate Alex more than I hate Giana and Trevor. I think Alex is more gutless than Bobby Petrino, at least Petrino makes is own decisions. Also he’s a liar and two-faced. He made a pact with Amanda and later broke it. Not mention to refuse to give Amanda repsect when she gave him the front page. What can you tell me to change mind? Other than she annoying, control freak, and attention needy I think I see your point. MTV did show that about Amanda. The show needed conflict and got it with you and your friends unwilling gave them the ammo they needed. Doesn’t that mean that you and Alex won’t be friends again with Amanda? Not too late to at least call a truce. Also what college are you going to?
MTV showed about 4 months of edited footage out of 3 years of built up disdain from the staff towards Amanda. Alex is certainly no saint and has pulled stunts that were dick both as an editor and a friend. In the end though, he is an amazing journalist and tell me how many times MTV documented that? But Amanda is a whole different story. I have never been an editor but my opinion has always been valued by the staff and I always heard both sides of the story before I judge, and quite frankly Amanda was a shit leader. The way she was portrayed draws pity from viewers, that is undeniable. But in the end all this is just a TV show that poorly portrays high school journalists feelings towards their superior instead of excelling in journalism as all of us had. This show has nothing do with journalism and is only a tool MTV used to draw viewers who have not fulfilled their addiction to pointless reality-show conflict.
Fuck what ever you think about Alex Angert, you really want a two-faced, lying, backstabber to hate? Try MTV, who had a real chance at bringing the under-appreciated, and important subject of journalism to millions of young viewers only to trade it in for a waste of time show about successful, smart, passionate, bitching teens. Minus the smart, successful, and passionate part. Because seriously who would want watch that?
And I’m going to Santa Fe Community College.

I personally felt bad for Alex, he was put in a tough situation, but he stepped up and did what was right for himself because he deserved it. As for everyone else, no one was perfect, but it was obvious there were some underlying problems that justified their immediate actions. And I dont really have a problem with Amanda…but she was incredibly…odd. I didn’t really pity her at all. Sorry?
Now I know that you guys were put in an unsatisfactory light on the show and MTV didn’t really do justice to each individual, but that wasn’t the goal of the show. It was more to stir up high school drama and expose a selected side of each person; MTV goal achieved. Of course thats exactly what people want to see, I’ll admit it, I loved the show. But I know the douchebaggy moves and bitching weren’t really who you guys were, which is what most people have a hard time realizing.
And props for fighting for that humour column back.

I honestly love Alex regardless of what this person has said. I too have noticed that he did go behind Amanda’s back but please tell me, who doesn’t go behind people’s backs once in a while? And as you said, this is tv, MTV that is that likes to take out a whole lot and add in the drama.
Regardless of what this loser said, you, Alex, Trevor, and Giana rock my socks >:D

I’m so glad that you addressed this because I personally love the show, but all of the other people who do as well, always say how mean Giana and Trevor are. It’s obvious that they actually have reasons not to like Amanda just how they (the viewers) don’t like someone at their own school. I love Amanda in the show, but I really don’t understand why she’s the main character. Even though she is the Editor in Chief, I don’t think that the show should be semi-focused on her because it creates an unfair bias and like you said; it loses the other editors’ and other staff members’ points of view.
Love the Show!
